Yvette Baxter-Sweet - Principal

Ms. Baxter-Sweet has been in the field of education for 18 years. She has worked as a classroom teacher, Literacy Coach, Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal and Principal. Her areas of content specialty are literacy, academic interventions, social studies and phonemic awareness. As Principal, she oversees all departments of operation for Passages Academy. In her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, reading, sightseeing, and jet skiing. Most recently, Ms. Baxter-Sweet was highlighted as Principal of the Week in DNA Info. Read the story here:

Michael Blake - Assistant Principal

Mr. Blake has worked for the NYC Department of Education for 32 years, all within District 79. He completed his undergraduate studies at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, with a B.A. in Journalism/English. He also earned his graduate and Administrative degrees from Iona College. He has worked at Passages Academy since September of 1999, as an Assistant Principal at various sites throughout the years. Mr. Blake has worked diligently on curriculum and creating labs at Passages Academy, to further develop the science department. His hobbies include bicycling, hiking and going to the gym.

Ron Carter - Assistant Principal

Mr. Carter just completed his 19th year in the field of education, with the end of the 2015-2016 school year. His teaching background is in History and Special Education. Mr. Carter oversees the professional developments for the social studies department, and has been instrumental in providing professional developments on improving related services and best practices to social workers, guidance counselors and special education teachers. In his spare time, he loves gardening, boating and has been a top rated Boys Varsity Basketball official for 2o years.

Brendan Daly - Assistant Principal

Mr. Daly has been involved in the field of education for 16 years, as a classroom teacher, Program Chairperson, and Assistant Principal. His area of content specialty is Social Studies. He currently oversees three Limited Secure Placement sites, in addition to coordinating testing, the middle school promotions process, and summer school. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, cooking, and working in his garden.

Norma DeLara - Assistant Principal

Ms. DeLara has worked for the NYC Department of Education for 14 years. She has been an Assistant Principal at Passages for 3 years. She was previously a middle school math and science teacher for 11 years in NYC and Long Island. Her fields of specialty are mathematics and science. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, the outdoors, and spending time with her family.

Shareef Rashid - Assistant Principal

Mr. Rashid has been in the field of education for 18 years. He started his career as an English teacher at Passages Academy in 1998. During his tenure at Passages Academy, he served as an academic coordinator, School Psychologist, and is currently an Assistant Principal. His areas of specialty are English curriculum development, Crisis Intervention, and cultivating positive school climate and culture. In his leisure, he enjoys watching movies, reading comic books, and rapping.

Carolyn Rudder - Assistant Principal

Ms. Rudder's areas of specialty are literacy, academic interventions, building of school culture, and parent and community engagement. As Assistant Principal, she provides instructional support to teachers, and supervises non-teaching staff at Passages Academy. In her leisure time, she enjoys being a community activist, spending quality time with her children, and exploring NYC.

Chrystal Stewart - Assistant Principal

Ms. Stewart has 12 years in the field Education, with 10 years as a Special Education/ELA teacher for middle and high school students at Passages Academy, and one year of Administration. She has been a mentor to new teachers, an ELA Curriculum Developer, and Common Core ELA fellow. She currently oversees the Transition process and ELA curriculum. In her spare time, she loves to dance.
