Academic and Social Emotional Learning

Passages Academy provides educational instruction and counseling for students ages 18 and younger in secure and non-secure detention and placement settings. Passages Academy is New York City Department of Education (DOE) school operated by District 79 . Passages Academy operates in collaboration with the New York City Administration of Children Services (ACS), Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ), and Office of Youth and Family Development (OYFD) to provide exceptional educational services to New York City students entrusted to their care and custody. We also collaborate with the Office of Children and Family Services to provide academic instruction to students diverted from incarceration.

Passages Academy allows youth to continue education by providing middle school and high school instruction. We review every youth’s academic history, create a program for the youth that matches his or her ability and provide supports for each youth to make academic progress. Students attending Passages Academy are provided with a rigorous educational curriculum that integrates both academic learning as well as social emotional learning.
